New opportunities for French businesses in the Middle East and the UAE

The United Arab Emirates and France have been friends and strategic allies since the founding of the UAE in 1971. The cultural and economic ties that bind the two countries together were made stronger earlier this year, following a virtual UAE-France Strategic Dialogue session that included a roadmap for the two countries’ partnership over the next decade.

Joint achievements such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, and the 2009 Joint Defense Agreement have helped bring the two countries even closer together, and the mutual desire to strengthen the key sectors of bilateral cooperation, such as the economy, trade and investment, oil and gas, nuclear and renewable energy, education, culture, health, space and security, will enhance these ties further. Today more than 30,000 French nationals live and work in the UAE, and over 600 French companies, including start-ups, SME and multinationals operate out of the emirates.
