The Franco-Dutch Urban Planning Meetings 2025
These meetings aim to address urban development challenges and explore solutions needed to create low-carbon, sustainable, and resilient urban ecosystems that promote social cohesion and economic development.
Over a day and a half, approximately 30 urban planning officials and industry experts will gather to share best practices and discuss appropriate solutions to modern urban planning challenges.
This event provides an opportunity for French and Dutch urban planners to exchange perspectives on urban development goals and the tools available to achieve them.
Program
- Discover particularly noteworthy urban planning projects in the city of The Hague.
- Learn about decision-making frameworks in France and the Netherlands.
- Exchange ideas with peers and experts in 2-hour working groups on topics proposed by participants, with group composition and themes shared in advance.
- Expand your network during dedicated networking sessions.
Some topics we will address during the 2025 meetings
To build on the work of last year, the working groups will focus amongst others* on following topics:
Low carbon cities
The planners can’t solve the problems alone, but their unique skills can drive solutions. What are the needed steps to make it happen and make real progress?
Climate change
How can we collaboratively develop a comprehensive methodology that balances short-term needs with long-term sustainability and resilience?
Political and financial Instruments
What political and financial tools are needed to achieve the ideal objective of a carbon-neutral environment while addressing social goals?
*participants will be ask to propose other topics they would like to work on during the working groups.
